One of Green Bay’s best private schools, Bay City Christian School, made history last weekend as the Lady Bobcats brought home the state basketball title for the fifth season in a row.
On Friday, the first match-up of the tournament was the second seed Maranatha Baptist Academy, versus the third seed Union Grove Christian School, which Maranatha won 48-38. Next, our ladies took the court against the fourth seed First Baptist Christian School, Waupaca, and won by the score of 42-27. That win set the stage for the championship game Saturday.
The gym buzzed with energy as the championship game approached. Many church and school families made the drive to Maranatha Baptist University to cheer on our girls giving the them a great pregame morale boost.
The Bobcats scored first and kept the lead the entire game, finally taking the win with the score of 50-43. At the buzzer, the team and fans stormed the court with cheers and hugs. Both teams displayed great sportsmanship and we are grateful for another championship. Sports at Bay City Christian provide a great avenue to learn teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and hard work.
